For one day only, Sam Thompson will become Teddy Soares’ personal gaming avatar.
In partnership with Captain Morgan
Life can feel like a video game sometimes — like hiding in a bus shelter waiting for our energy to recover before going back into the club — but what if we went one step further and actually turned someone’s life into a video game complete with tasks, trials and top scores? Thanks to NME’s new partnership with Captain Morgan, you no longer need to wonder (because we’ve made it happen).
That’s right! We have partnered with Captain Morgan to bring down the barrier between reality and the digital realm. And we’ve enlisted reality TV stars Sam Thompson and Teddy Soares to help enact the science of bringing URL to IRL.
You’ll be able to watch it all here and on the Captain Morgan Instagram page later this week.
Sam is an avid gamer, so it seems only fair that he becomes our chosen gaming avatar for the day. Sam’s used to starring in “partially scripted” reality TV, so we’re expecting big things from our new character – we just wonder what customization we can get away with…
At Sam’s ‘controls’ will be fellow star Teddy Soares, who will no doubt be keen to exhibit the sort of strategic planning and efficient pathfinding that we all employ when we’re ticking off side missions in an open-world game. It would be a terrible shame, for example, if Teddy was to send Sam darting through a fountain on a cold winter’s day without a change of clothes!
Video games need an important quest to glue them together, of course. And Captain Morgan goes beautifully with friends and gaming, so Sam will be on a mission to collect all the elements needed for a top night of fun and gaming with his new mate Teddy – that’s the ingredients for the perfect Captain and Cola serve, naturally.
If he’s very well behaved, we may even let him sit down for five minutes and pick up a controller (…but probably not).
Join us later this week to see how the experiment unfolds!
