The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble will host their Winter Quarter Concert in Maier Performance Hall, March 8, at 7 p.m.
“This will be our second concert in Maier Performance Hall since the start of the COVID pandemic and we are striving to make it as safe, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible,” said PC Ensemble Member and Director Dr. David Jones. “Our first post-COVID show in December went off without a hitch and a good time was had by all.”
The ensemble will play music by Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Oliver, Benny Carter, Duke Jordan, Matt Dennis, Hank Mobley, Sonny Clark, Daniel Berry and a world premiere by Dr. Jones.

The performers in this band represent some of the very best jazz that the North Olympic Peninsula has to offer. From Port Angeles are Richard “Doc” Thorson (tenor sax), Jim Bradbury (trumpet), Ken Young (trumpet), Marge Rosen (drum set), Kendall Melton (bass), Max Larsen (bass) and David Jones (keyboards/director). From Sequim are Jeff Dingle (trombone) and Elaine Gardner-Morales (bass) while John Adams (alto sax + bass clarinet) hails from Port Townsend.
The event is free and open to the public, with certain restrictions in place.
Attendance will be limited to a maximum of 40 guests in Maier Performance Hall and lobby due to COVID-prevention/safety protocols, no exceptions. Masks must be worn at all times while in the building. Attendees should space out between households in the seating area and in the lobby. Proof of vaccination will not be required. PC staff will be present at the event to help with spacing requirements and to answer any questions about these protocols.
