From Mirror reports
Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic’s boys basketball team will have to beat Penn Cambria a third time this season to get a chance to defend its 2021 Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championship.
The Marauders earned the top seed in the LHAC playoffs, which begin tonight, and will host fourth-seeded Penn Cambria. BG owns a pair of narrow victories over the Panthers, including a 10-point win at Pleasant Valley Gymnasium earlier this season.
Third-seeded Central will travel to second-seeded Richland for the other boys semifinal. The Rams topped the Scarlet Dragons, 55-53, in Martinsburg earlier this year.
The championship game will be at Central Cambria on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
On the girls side, top-seeded Bishop McCort will host Penn Cambria tonight, and third-seeded Forest Hills will travel to second-seeded Bedford. The girls championship will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Central Cambria.
The Inter-County Conference will hold its semifinals on Friday at Claysburg-Kimmel with four consecutive games.
The Williamsburg girls will get things started at 3:45 p.m. with a game against ICC South champion Everett. The ICC North champion Bellwood-Antis girls will follow at 5:15 p.m. with a game against ICC South runner-up Southern Huntingdon, which eliminated B-A from the District 6 playoffs last season.
The winners will play Saturday back at Claysburg-Kimmel at 5:45 p.m.
On the boys side, ICC North runner-up Williamsburg will play ICC South co-champion Southern Huntingdon at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, and ICC North champion Mount Union will play ICC South co-champion Southern Fulton at 8:15 p.m.
The winners will play Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at C-K.
The Mountain League does not have a postseason tournament to decide its champion. The Bellefonte and Tyrone boys split two regular season meetings and ended up tied in the conference and will share the league title. On the girls side, Tyrone travels to Hollidaysburg with a chance to also share the league title with a victory. If the Lady Tigers win, they will have completed their first season in the Mountain League undefeated and be crowned the champions.
