Microsoft is allegedly holding talks with Obisdian about Fallout New Vegas 2 and Elden Ring is breaking records before its even out.
Another day, another great big pile of news to get through, including alleged talks between Microsoft and Obisdian regarding a possible sequel to Fallout New Vegas. We also got the news that Elden Ring is smashing records before it has even released, and that we can expect some more Pokemon-related announcements this weekend. More details below.
Ever since Microsoft announced it would be acquiring Bethesda back in 2020, thoughts immediately went to the possibility that it and Obsidian could finally team up again to make the Fallout New Vegas sequel of our dreams. It turns out that Microsoft might also be thinking that way, as the publisher has been in "conversations" with Obsidian about a potential Fallout New Vegas 2. This is according to industry insider Jeff Grubb, so it's not confirmed yet, but Grubb is one of the more reliable insiders out there.

Jeff Grubb also decided that he'd drop two bombshells in one afternoon, detailing Sony's rumored Spartacus subscription service that is being touted as a Game Pass rival. According to Grubb, this new and improved service will offer players a choice of three tiers titled "Essential", "Extra", and "Premium". "Essential" is basically what we have now, but "Extra" will offer up a catalog of 250-300 games while "Premium" will grant players access to streaming services, "classic games", and game trials.
It's time for all you Pokemon fans out there to get excited as a new Pokemon Presents showcase is confirmed to be taking place this weekend on Sunday, February 27. It's unknown what exactly is going to be announced at this show, but the 14-minute runtime probably indicates that it'll be nothing too major. We just got Pokemon Legends: Arceus after all, so don't get your hopes up for any massive announcements. You never know with Nintendo though.
It's pretty safe to say that people are pretty excited for Elden Ring. In fact, they're so much so that Elden Ring has quickly become FromSoftware's most watched title on Twitch, and it's not even out yet. With over 770,000 viewers on Twitch, Elden Ring has smashed the previous record set by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which topped at a comparatively tiny 280,000 viewers. It seems people really like watching Elden Ring, but thankfully they won't have to watch much longer as the game launches tomorrow.
Finally, we have some serious news regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as several Ukranian game developers have been sharing ways in which its allies can help victims of war. Developers such as GSC Game World, 4A Games, Vostok Games, and Frogwares all came out on social media today, speaking out against Russia's invasion. If you'd like to help Ukranian efforts to fight back against Russia and help out those suffering as a result, you can find resources as well as methods of donation here.
