The University of Jamestown softball team and the University of Minnesota-Crookston might have had an early first pitch, but the Jimmies bats were wide awake for the 8:05 a.m. start in a 7-1 win on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Jimmies (2-1) clubbed 12 hits in this game, a season high.
The Golden Eagles (3-2) opened the scoring in the first inning off a Shaelyn Grant sacrifice groundout to make it 1-0. The Jimmies responded in the bottom of the second, thanks to a Steph Cota two RBI double to take a 2-1 lead. The Jimmies would have a big third inning putting up four runs on four hits. Jimmies’ sophomore Megan Neiles put the finishing touches on the win, with an RBI single to center that scored Katie Merchant to make it 7-1.
A few hours later, the Jimmies returned to the Presentation College Dome to take on the Dickinson State Blue Hawks. The Jimmies looked to be cruising along to their third win of the season before the bottom of the fifth inning made them sweat in the 5-4 win.
The Jimmies (3-1) opened the scoring in the second inning thanks to some sloppy Blue Hawks (1-2) defense. The Jimmies second batter of the inning was Katie Merchant who reached first on an error. Due up next was Katie Reisdorfer who tripled to left to bring home the pinch runner, Julia Bryne giving the Jimmies the 1-0 lead. Neiles kept the JImmies hot start going with a single to bring home Reisdorfer.
The Jimmies Santina Zito would make it 4-0 on a two run shot in the third and Sunny Halsey would hit a single to left bringing home Battistoni to make it 5-0 in the fourth.

The Jimmies returned to the field to finish the day and they would put a stamp on the weekend. The Jimmies used a six run second inning to beat the hosts, Presentation College 14-1 in five innings. The 14 runs is the most the Jimmies (4-1) have scored since they beat Hastings College 20-4 on Apr. 24, 2021.
The Jimmies second inning saw them score six runs on five hits, also benefiting from two Saints (2-3) errors. The one Saints run was scored on a single from Yulissa Pena to score Camille Vestal to cut the deficit to 10-1.
