Indonesian shipyard launches two PC-60M patrol boats – Naval News

Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Margono <strong><a href="https://www.tnial.mil.id/berita/43362/DISIAPKAN-MAMPU-HADAPI-PEPERANGAN,-KAPAL-PATROLI-CEPAT-TNI-AL-AKAN-DIPERSENJATAI-RUDAL/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stated </a></strong>that the boats will enhance the Indonesian Navy&#8217;s capabilities to protect the country&#8217;s EEZs and that the vessels will be built in a convertible structure to increase armament if needed.<br>&#8220;In an emergency or when the country is in danger, the new patrol boats can be armed with missiles that allow it to be upgraded to a fast missile craft.&#8221;&nbsp;<br>According to Admiral Margono, the PC-60M class boat, built at the PT Caputra Mitra Sejati shipyard, is an evolution of the previously built PC-40 boats, which was later developed into PC-60 to support the Indonesian Navy&#8217;s peacetime law enforcement duties.<br>The launched ships were named &#8220;<em>KRI Dorang-874</em>&#8221; and &#8220;<em>KRI Bawal-875</em>&#8220;. <br>KRI Dorang-874 will operate under the patrol group of Ambon Naval Base (Lantamal IX), while KRI Bawal-875 will be attached to Sorong Naval Base (Lantamal XlV).<br>Each ship is 60 meters long, 8.5 meters wide, and weighs 440-520 tons. It can reach a maximum speed of 24 knots, a cruising speed of 17 knots, and an economic speed of 15 knots.<br>The patrol boats will be equipped with a 40-mm (millimeter) main gun equipped with a tracking system, and an electro-optical suite consisting of a laser rangefinder, an infrared camera, and a daytime camera. The gun can be operated with the fire control system. The ships will also carry two 12.7 mm guns.<br>The <strong><a href="https://www.navalnews.com//?s=indonesian+navy" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Indonesian Navy</a></strong> will acquire four PC -60M class patrol boats. 2 boats are being built in PT. Caputra Mitra Sejati shipyard while the other boats will be built in PT. Karimun Anugrah Sejati Shipyard and PT.
