Elden Ring is a resounding success, and a report claims that the game’s PC version has already sold more than 10 million copies.
It is no secret that Elden Ring is taking the world by storm, with its immense popularity and nearly-perfect review scores from significant gaming outlets. Since its launch a couple of weeks ago, Elden Ring became FromSoftware's biggest Steam launch in history, surpassing Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Now, rumors claim that Elden Ring may have broken yet another milestone by breaking over 10 million units sold on PC.
According to data released by SteamSpy, Elden Ring has sold over 10 million copies on Steam in just a week. However, it is worth pointing out that SteamSpy only shows game sales estimates by keeping track of the number of players who own a game. Players should also remember that SteamSpy only tracks public profiles, so players whose accounts remain private are not counted, which means that sales figures of Elden Ring on PC could be more than 10 million.

However, it is important to remember that data from SteamSpy is not official, so players should take this information with a grain of salt. At the time of writing, FromSoftware, or any other reputable data tracking company, hasn't confirmed the 10 million units sold for Elden Ring on PC. Despite this, there is no denying that Elden Ring is on the road to smash sales records. As previously mentioned, the game received positive reviews from almost all major gaming outlets, and this critical reception is also reflected in fan feedback.
According to numbers provided by GSD a few days ago, Elden Ring has seen the biggest non-FIFA or Call of Duty launch in the UK since Red Dead Redemption 2. Additionally, Elden Ring's initial sales are more than double the performance of Horizon: Forbidden West. GSD also reported that 68% of Elden Ring's sales came from digital downloads, and most of those came from Xbox and PC platforms.
While the claim that Elden Ring sold 10 million copies on the PC remains unconfirmed, this figure may not entirely be a stretch. However, it is worth remembering that an hour after Elden Ring's launch, the game accrued hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, peaking at around 600k. Of course, the game having a high player base shortly after its release isn't at all surprising, given that Elden Ring was one of the most anticipated games since its announcement. In the end, many factors contribute to Elden Ring's impressive sales figures, such as the challenging yet much friendlier gameplay that has since attracted newcomers to the Soulslike genre.
Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
