A new Ocarina of Time PC port has finally launched. OpenOcarina is here and you can get it right now, but you won’t quite be able to just download some files and immediately start playing it.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of the most beloved games of all time, so much so that fans recreated a lost prototype of the game after it was discovered last year. Naturally, there are a ton of other projects related to this game. Now, one of these projects has finally come out: OpenOcarina is here.
Much like other PC ports of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, OpenOcarina is a clever technical creation. This Ocarina of Time PC port allows you to run the Nintendo classic on a modern PC while (hopefully) avoiding any concerns about a DMCA takedown as reported by DSOGaming (via Reddit)
You see, this particular batch of code is entirely original according to its developers. None of Nintendo’s code or art assets is involved with the code they’re distributing whatsoever — a strategy that is also employed by other PC port projects like the ones we covered earlier this year and last summer.
Unfortunately, that also means that you can’t just download this port and play it without a little work. You’ll have to get yourself a working ROM of the original game to actually make this playable, and then you’ll have to assemble everything. As one might expect, this PC port also has a technical issue or two.
For now, you can download this Ocarina of Time PC port on Github. If you’d prefer to play the genuine article, you’ll either need to break out one of your older consoles or get the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership to play it on your Switch.

I’ve had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven’t stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs – I’ve tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I’m always looking to try more!
