Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to win at gaming awards festivals through breathtaking screenshots taken by dedicated fans and gamers.
Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption II won a plethora of awards and accolades upon its release, with critics widely praising the strength of its writing, its exciting gameplay and more. But the game itself isn't the only thing winning awards. A screenshot from the game recently won its very own award too.
At the London Games Festival, a screenshot taken by Joe Meizies won the Rockstar game yet another award for promoting virtual photography, beating screenshots taken from fellow contenders Horizon Forbidden West, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Control. Head of Games London Michael French stated, "We wanted to celebrate these trailblazers from underrepresented backgrounds and tell their stories."

Grabbing screenshots from Red Dead Redemption II is made easier with its photo mode, giving fans a chance to capture some of the game's many exciting moments in all their glory, or the tranquility of the landscape. The game's mode has even caught the attention and enthusiasm of big names such as The Boys star Jack Quaid, who posted a collection of photos from in the game on social media.
Red Dead Redemption II is set a decade before 2010's universally-acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, exploring the final days of Dutch Van der Linde's gang before the tightly-knit community of outlaws were forced to go their separate ways. While John Marston does make an appearance in the game, players are thrown into the spurs of Arthur Morgan.

Beyond the crowd of complex, well-written characters, the game continues to win over fans with the stunning level of detail bringing New Hanover, Ambarino, Lemoyne, New Austin and West Elizabeth to life. The game's expansive fanbase are still discovering new and peculiar secrets throughout sprinkled throughout Red Dead Redemption II, ranging from hidden artworks to odd behavior from NPCs and even wildlife.
The future of the hugely successful series is uncertain. Rockstar began development on the second Red Dead Redemption game shortly after the release of the first. Around 2,000 people worked on the game with development taking approximately eight years between 2011 and 2019. The game was only announced in 2016 before releasing in 2019 on consoles and PC. To date, the game has sold over 43 million copies. However, despite its immense success, it's uncertain whether or not the franchise will see another sequel. For now, gamers can continue to enjoy the world of the game with Red Dead Online.
