A new leak claims that Xbox and Bethesda are working on multiple Disney video games alongside the confirmed upcoming Indiana Jones game.
A well-known esports commentator and industry insider has claimed that Xbox and Bethesda have multiple Disney games currently in development. Currently, only one Disney-owned title has been officially announced by Bethesda, leaving fans to speculate what other Disney properties Xbox and Bethesda could be working on.
Microsoft bought out ZeniMax Media in 2021 in a deal that shook the gaming sphere. The acquisition means Microsoft now owns Bethesda Softworks and all of its developers. This acquisition has since led to fan speculation about whether or not previously announced multi-platform titles such as The Elder Scrolls VI would become Xbox exclusives, which was the case with the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG Starfield. Alongside this exclusivity speculation, others have begun to wonder what properties outside of Bethesda’s original IPs got acquired by Microsoft, with attention turning to the lucrative Disney IP, given how Bethesda had announced an original Indiana Jones game as recently as January 2021 just prior to the Xbox acquisition completing.

Responding to a Twitter poll on potential future Disney games from ZeniMax, OTN Media’s Joey McDermott replied that Xbox-Bethesda has «multiple Disney-licenced projects» in the works. The insider cited a source who had previously leaked Microsoft’s «Welcome To The Family» event for ZeniMax/Bethesda nearly a month prior to its official announcement. Unfortunately, McDermott did not reveal which projects these were or what licenses they were adapting, but while nothing is confirmed, it seems like more Disney games from Bethesda and Xbox could well happen.
Not sure what order they came in, but Xbox-Bethesda has multiple Disney-licensed projects in the works 🙂
Despite McDermott being intentionally coy regarding what these projects are, fans have begun to speculate what kind of Disney games other than Indiana Jones might fit Bethesda’s game style. Several fans have suggested an Xbox exclusive Marvel game, likely to compensate for the PlayStation exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man series and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. It is noticeable that as of writing, Xbox is the only platform not to have an exclusive Marvel title, with Nintendo having 2019’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order exclusive to Switch. Others have pointed out that there have been rumors surrounding a Mandalorian-based game, with the Star Wars universe already having proved itself as prime grounds for the kind of RPGs Bethesda is known for. Of course, the currently unannounced title could focus on classic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, rather than franchises Disney has acquired itself over the years.
It is yet to be seen which extra Disney games Xbox and Bethesda could be working on, but given the developer’s track record with building epic worlds such as The Elder Scrolls‘ Tamriel, the world of Disney certainly opens itself up to a variety of exciting prospects. If McDermott’s sources prove to be accurate, Xbox‘s Disney fans could have plenty to look forward to.
