Gigabyte has unveiled the S55U, a gaming monitor with a 54.6-inch VA panel that outputs at 4K and 120 Hz. Not only does the Gigabyte S55U offer a high refresh rate, it peaks at 1,500 nits and delivers a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, plus 2 ms GtG response times. Moreover, the monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium, Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+.
Incidentally, Gigabyte claims that the gaming monitor offers 96% DCI-P3 and 140% sRGB colour space coverages. Elsewhere, the Gigabyte S55U runs Android and has dual 10 W speakers that support DTS HD and Dolby Atmos. Unsurprisingly, the 1,232 mm-wide chassis has space for plenty of I/O. According to Gigabyte, the gaming monitor provides the following connectivity, which includes two HDMI 2.1 ports:
At the time of writing, Gigabyte has not confirmed how much the S55U will cost, nor when it will be available. Presumably, the Gigabyte S55U will be cheaper than competing 120 Hz TVs, although we doubt that a gaming monitor of its size will be available for anything less than four figures.
