PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College men’s basketball team had a chance to clinch a playoff spot, but lost a heartbreaker to Bellevue 91-89 in overtime Saturday, putting the Pirates in a must-win position Wednesday to make the NWAC tournament.
With the loss, the men at tied for fourth place in the North Region at 7-6. The good news is the Pirates get to play the team they’re tied with, Shoreline, at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Peninsula’s regular-season finale. Win, and the Pirates end up either tied for third place or all alone in fourth place.
Meanwhile, the Peninsula women clinched at least a share of the North Region championship with a commanding 58-41 win over the Bellevue women.

<br>In the men&rsquo;s game, Peninsula was forced to battle back from a huge deficit late in the second half. Bellevue was up 67-59 with 7:09 left in the game. Three-pointers by Rayshawn Harris, Isaac Garcia and Jaylin Reed helped give the Pirates a brief lead at 73-72 with 2:55 to play. <br><div itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/VideoObject"><meta itemprop="uploadDate" content="Sat Mar 05 2022 20:38:00 GMT-0800 (Pacific Standard Time)"/><meta itemprop="name" content="Pc Men"/><meta itemprop="description" content="Peninsula College mens basketball vs. Bellevue on March 5, 2020 in Port Angeles."/><meta itemprop="duration" content="P0Y0M0DT0H1M17S" /><meta itemprop="thumbnailUrl" content="https://cdn.jwplayer.com/thumbs/5nHfhre6-720.jpg"/><meta itemprop="contentUrl" content="https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/5nHfhre6-QiHzbTBA.m4a"/><script src="https://cdn.jwplayer.com/players/5nHfhre6-4Tg7R3ZA.js"></script></div><div class='ai-viewports ai-viewport-3 ai-insert-33-74009982' data-insertion='after' data-selector='.ai-insert-33-74009982' data-insertion-no-dbg data-code='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' data-block='33'></div> <br>Bellevue was clinging to an 80-77 lead with seven seconds left when Reed was fouled while taking a 3-pointer.
