Good morning Cleveland Browns fans!
Sunday is usually a pretty busy day on the Newswire, as newspapers attempt to bulk up and sell what are known as “print editions”. A “print edition” is a version of the website which is “printed” on “paper”, and which is read by humans and then re-used to start fires, line birdcages, or rolled up in a cylindrical form in order to hit things. The Sunday version of these used to be a big deal.
Mind-boggling, but these apparently still exist in backward areas of the world in order to kill trees more effectively.
Well, the local “newspapers” are having none of that, as today’s Daily Newswire is sparse, to say the least. Maybe it’s because I devote more of the salacious stuff during the day to the infamous Insider Blog, but there just isn’t a lot of new stuff available this morning.
There are a couple of pieces bemoaning the effect that Odell Beckham Jr will have on the free agency market and the world’s view of the Browns. And Donovan Peoples-Jones has apparently published as a mobile game, which was something I wouldn’t have been able to predict 24 hours ago.
Other than that, we have the conference championship games, and there will inevitably be a lot of discussion of those in the Watercooler. The Bengals and Chiefs kick off at 3 PM on CBS/Paramount+ and the Niners and Rams go at 6:30 PM on FOX.
Did you know that you get an AD-FREE version of Paramount+ for FREE if you subscribe to the OBR? You have to wait for your discount or promo period to go by, but it’s totally free. If you buy the OBR for $1 for the first month, as soon as you renew for your second month, Paramount+ comes along for the ride. Or you can buy the OBR at full price by calling customer support and getting both the OBR and Paramount+ together right away. It’s nifty. An unstoppable bargain for the cool people.
I say this because (1) it’s a damn good deal and (2) because we need your subscriptions to survive. So, I’ve got an ulterior motive, if you haven’t guessed. Still, good deal.
OBR Quarterback Week finishes off with Jake being joined by Draft Analyst Cory Kinnan to discuss the best mid-round QB options in the 2022 NFL Draft in case the Browns decide to pursue this route behind Baker Mayfield in the upcoming season.

Odell Beckham, Jr., was not only disingenuous in his supposed enthusiasm for the 2021 Cleveland Browns season, but his contempt for the Cleveland Browns may also have lasting effects in terms of how the team is perceived. At least this is a concern one could have after reading the articles below. Or even if you don’t. OBJ is an influential figure within the league and, for some players, his disdain for the town and team could dissuade some free agents from wearing the orange and brown.
Thanks, OBJ. You’re all class.

Well, this is unexpected. Donovan Peoples-Jones has developed an 8-bit looking pass catching game with a bit of a retro vibe. Part of the money goes to charity, which is always cool, but I’m so damn bad at these games that playing is generally an exercise in frustration. All I really play these days is Halo Infinite on my Xbox and Solitaire on my phone. I used to be quite the gamer, but I spend my time hovering over laptops these days.
Super excited to announce my iOS and Android game Deep Pass Jam. Try to catch impossible throws just like NFL wide receiver DPJ. When not swearing at his big-screen TV because he’s been taken out by a mere Grunt, Barry McBride is the Publisher and Founder of the OBR and bloviates this nonsense every morning. You can follow him on Twitter @barrymcbride or write him at [email protected] if so compelled.
If you have made it this far, you are required to subscribe to the OBR. Them’s the rules.
