A new esports bar, restaurant, bar and arcade opened last week in Newport on the Levee.
Velocity Esports, which combines a restaurant, bar, arcade, esports lounge and more entertainment offerings for all ages, opened March 31 in the space formerly occupied by Gameworks.
With the motto of «next level gaming, next level fun,» the 23,000-square-foot venue offers a full-service «elevated fine dining» restaurant and bar and live entertainment in Newport on the Levee’s Gallery building.
Velocity Esport’s ownership invested $400,000 into enhancements to reinvent the space, according to a release. This includes:
“We are so excited to continue expanding our ever-growing lineup of entertainment options here at the Levee and to serve as the original home of Velocity Esports,” Gabriella Burch, general manager of Newport on the Levee said in a release. “The esports industry is young and one of the fastest-growing in the world and we’re confident the community will be just as thrilled as we are to see this concept emerge locally.”
Newport is the first location for Velocity Esports, which is planning to open locations across other cities in the future. A grand opening is planned for late April, according to social media.
