High school boys BASKETBALL
MONDAY
Bellwood-Antis at Penns Valley, 7:30
Notable: Important game for both teams for playoff seeding in upcoming District 6 3A playoffs. The final day to accumulate points is Wednesday.
TUESDAY
Altoona at Bishop Guilfoyle, 7:15
Notable: The line for tickets for this game was stretched a long way, and the gym will be packed for this game between city rivals.
WEDNESDAY
Hollidaysburg at Penns Valley, 7:30
Notable: Tigers need a win here and some help to try and improve playoff seeding.
WestPAC semifinals
Shanksville-Stonycreek at Portage, 7:30
Notable: Vikings aren’t having one of their best seasons, but they have won their last four games.
THURSDAY
Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference semifinals (projected)
Central (4) at Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic (1)
Notable: The teams met at Pleasant Valley Gymnasium on Jan. 10, and the Marauders came away with a 14-point victory.
Penn Cambria (3) at Richland (2)
Notable: Panthers won at Richland, 48-43, on Jan. 19, but the Rams are currently riding a seven-game win streak, including one over BG.
FRIDAY
ICC semifinals at Claysburg-Kimmel H.S. (projected)
Williamsburg vs. Southern Huntingdon
Notable: Rockets and Southern Fulton are both 13-2 in the ICC South, and it could come down to the fourth tiebreaker, which would put Southern Huntingdon on top. These teams haven’t met this year. Blue Pirates are the No. 2 ICC North team with Mount Union as the No. 1.
WestPAC championship at Pitt-Johnstown
Notable: If Portage beats Shanksville-Stonycreek in the semifinals, the Mustangs will have a tough challenge here against either Berlin Brothersvalley or Conemaugh Township. They won a hard-fought game at Berlin in which Kaden Claar went over 1,000 career points, and they split their season series against the Indians.
SATURDAY
Laurel Highlands championship at Central Cambria H.S., 7:30
Notable: No matter who is playing between Central/Bishop Guilfoyle and Penn Cambria/Richland, this will be a great game to finish off what has been a tremendous season of basketball in the LHAC.
High school girls BASKETBALL
MONDAY
Bellwood-Antis at Portage, 7:30
Notable: Interesting non-conference battle between current 1A top seed (Portage) and Bellwood-Antis, which is fighting for a top-four seed in 2A.
Bishop Guilfoyle at Westmont Hilltop, 7:15
Notable: Lady Marauders topped Hilltoppers, thanks to 28 points from Leah Homan, last week at home.
TUESDAY
Williamsburg at Northern Bedford, 6:30 (varsity only)
Notable: Northern Bedford won a previous matchup during Williamsburg’s holiday tournament, but Lady Pirates have improved since that game.
WEDNESDAY
Bishop Guilfoyle at Altoona, 6:30
Notable: Tough week for Lady Marauders continues with game on the road against 6A city rival.
WestPAC semifinals
Shanksville-Stonycreek at Portage, 6
Notable: Lady Mustangs haven’t played Shanksville this year but did beat WestPAC South champion Berlin by 14 in December. Lady Vikings own a win over BG.
THURSDAY
Tyrone at Hollidaysburg, 7:15
Notable: If neither team loses before this one, Tyrone can earn a Mountain League title split with Hollidaysburg with a win. Lady Tigers would be outright champions with a victory.
FRIDAY
ICC semifinals at Claysburg-Kimmel H.S.
Williamsburg vs. Everett
Notable: Lady Warriors finished unbeaten (16-0) in the ICC South this year, but Lady Pirates have been playing as well as anyone in the league lately.
Tussey Mountain OR Southern Huntingdon vs. Bellwood-Antis
Notable: Lady Titans and Rockets play each other on Wednesday. Tussey won the first game and is one game ahead of Southern, but if the Lady Rockets win, it will come down to a tiebreaker.
WestPAC championship at Pitt-Johnstown
Notable: If Portage beats Shanksville, the Lady Mustangs get either a rematch against Berlin or play Windber, which just topped Portage in overtime to split the regular-season series.
SATURDAY
ICC Championship at Claysburg-Kimmel H.S.
Notable: Bellwood-Antis and Williamsburg just played a pair of classics the past two weeks with both taking a game. Could this one be the tiebreaker if they end up both beating the ICC South opponents in the semifinals?
