16 programmable buttons and two mode profiles allow you to have 32 custom keys right at your fingertips.
If you're an avid user of macro keys, you'll love the Redragon M913 Impact Elite Gaming Mouse. This device is specifically designed for MMO players who deal with multiple commands and spells, allowing them to launch their attacks in a single click.
This feature also makes it useful for professionals who incorporate macros in their workflow. This mouse lets them execute their commands with a button press, thus saving them several keyboard presses over the workday.
It's solidly built, has several features, and has extensive RGB lighting, thus truly making it a premium mouse. However, its beauty is that it doesn't come at a premium price.
There are three kinds of gaming mice today—ones that offer the lightest weight, making you feel as if you're holding nothing; those that give you everything you need in one hand; and ones that attempt to balance the two extremes.
Most players would settle for either the lightest mouse or one that sits squarely in the center of these two extremes. But many don't realize that having 16 programmable buttons does have its perks.
So, what benefits will you get with that many buttons? And how does Redragon execute it in the M913 Impact Elite Wireless Gaming Mouse? Read on and find out.
The Redragon M913 comes in a thick and translucent gray plastic box with a removable top, protected from tampering by a label and security sticker. Inside, you'll find the mouse, a 5-foot, 10-inches long USB-A to USB-C cable, a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, a User Manual, and a Redragon sticker.
This mouse is designed for MMO use, hence the 12 programmable keys on the left side of the mouse, plus the triple-clicking button right beside the left click button. In fact, you can pretty much customize all the buttons on this mouse, save for the mode and DPI buttons and the scrolling action.
You have to note that this mouse is designed for people with medium to large hands—it's 4.8 inches long, 3.6 inches wide, 1.7 inches tall, and weighs about 6 ounces. Despite that, your hand fits comfortably on the unit, with resting places for your thumb, ring finger, and pinky. Given that, you can freely drag the mouse around with none of your fingers scraping the desk.
Despite coming in at less than a third of the price of similar premium MMO mice, the Redragon M913 Impact Elite is built well. It doesn't have any creaks and rattles when shaking, plus the buttons do not wobble. Only the scroll wheel makes a sound if you try to nudge it side-to-side, but this is because it tends to press the middle button when the scroll wheel is pushed to the left.
The mouse features four PTFE feet, allowing it to glide effortlessly on almost any surface. The device's weight and smooth movement might make it too slippery for some, so it's highly recommended to use it with a desk or mouse pad.
The mouse itself has varying DPI sensitivities. By default, the mouse has five settings—1,000, 2,000, 4,000, 8,000, and 16,000. However, you can change these to your taste in the Redragon M913 Gaming Mouse app. You can go as low as 100 DPI or as high as 16,000 DPI and fine-tune your settings in increments of 100.
You can also change the mouse's USB polling rate from 125Hz to 250Hz, 500Hz, and 1,000Hz. These settings ensure you can tailor-fit the M913 to your preferences, so you can perform optimally in whatever task or game you're doing.
This wireless mouse sports a 1,000mAh battery, allowing you up to 80 hours of playtime. However, this is with the RGB lights turned off (i.e., the mouse is set in Eco mode). If you use it with RGB lights on, the battery life suffers significantly and could run empty in just 20 hours or so.
Nevertheless, you can use the USB-C cable to recharge the mouse and use it simultaneously, so you're not handicapped if it runs empty. Furthermore, the mouse flashes red when its battery level falls to 10%, so you have more than enough time to recharge it.
You can reprogram almost all the keys on the Redragon M913 Impact Elite. By default, all the thumb buttons are set to F1 to F12, and the rectangular button next to the left click button defaults to a triple-click action. You will find a mode button and the power slider underneath the mouse.
If you set the power to On, the mouse will work with all the RGB lights. But if you slide it up to Eco, the mouse will work but won't turn on any of the backlight effects. This helps save battery power and extends your game time.
You will also find a slot for keeping the 2.4GHz wireless dongle underneath the mouse. However, it doesn't fall flush against the flat bottom of the mouse. The device is slightly tilted up when you place the dongle in its receptacle and try to use it. This makes it difficult to use, so the mouse is clearly designed to be used wirelessly.
Unfortunately, the Impact Elite doesn't have any Bluetooth connectivity options. That means you can't use it with devices that do not have a USB port, like your tablet or smartphone. It's also not officially supported on macOS, so you can't use some of its features if you try to plug it into your iMac or MacBook.
When you're operating the mouse, it's generally quiet. You'll only notice the clicks if you're in an exceptionally quiet environment, and the scroll wheel movement is practically quiet. Nevertheless, you can still feel the 24 notches on it, giving you accuracy when scanning a document.
One thing that stands out is the ease of use of the 12 thumb buttons on the side of the mouse. Despite being placed close together, each button is textured and shaped enough that you won't miss-press any button nor accidentally press a button you don't intend to—you'll exactly know what you're pressing just by feel.
Furthermore, buttons one through six are easy to press without making large thumb movements. You can also easily press buttons seven through twelve by angling your thumb back.
Customizing the Redragon M913 Impact Elite mouse is also a breeze. All you need is to head to the Redragon site and download the proper app. Alternatively, you can just search Google for Redragon M913 Impact Elite software, instantly getting the correct result.
After installation, the app is intuitive and easy to learn. You can change your mouse's general functions on the Main page. Buttons one through twelve each have an assigned number on the app, so you know what key you're customizing. The other customizable keys also have their own numbers marked and displayed on the app, so you won't get lost with key editing.
You can also change its USB Polling Rate in this window and see how much battery power it has left.
To set a custom key, all you need is to click on the dropdown menu and choose what function you want. There are twelve default functions, including DPI changing and media controls. You can also create simple windows commands via the Key combination option.
However, if that isn't enough, you can head to the Macro menu and create custom macros. Once done, you can then assign a macro to a key, allowing you to execute sophisticated commands and key combinations with a single click.
The Advanced page is where you can edit the default DPI values, the cursor sensitivity, scrolling speed, and double-click speed.
Finally, you can change the Redragon M913's color and look in the Lighting window. You can choose Steady if you want a single color, Respiration to make the mouse's color breathe, and Neon to make it cycle through all the possible colors. Or you can pick OFF to save battery power and turn off all the lights.
After saving all your settings, you can press the Mode Switch button to set up the following profile. You can have a maximum of two profiles, although it doesn't indicate it on the app. However, you can change its lighting settings to know which mode is active.
For example, you can set your work profile to Neon and your gaming profile to Steady red. With this, you can have 32 button customizations with just a single mouse.
One other advantage you get with the software customization is it saves your settings onboard the mouse. So even if you move it to a PC without the Redragon app, your settings are carried over. And if you want to share your settings with a friend, click on Export Profile to save and send it to them. They can then click on Import Profile to get an exact copy of your settings onboard their M913 mouse.
MMO games generally give you several commands and options and are usually pressed with a mouse click on the screen. However, they also assign keyboard shortcuts to allow players to launch them much more quickly.
So, instead of moving your cursor off the center of the screen where the battle is ongoing, you can just type the shortcut keys and launch the spell directly without moving your cursor away from the fight.
However, even typing the shortcut keys take time; that's why some players instead prefer to create macros that are executed by a single keypress. Instead of making three or four hand movements, they get things done with a slight movement of their fingertip. This helps shave microseconds, allowing the players to gain an advantage over their opponents.
This mouse also works well with professionals, allowing them to get their most-used commands and macros saved on the thumb pad. That way, they save on effort and a few seconds on their work.
Combining all the time they've saved could equate to about an extra five to ten minutes spent on something else more productive instead of pressing buttons far apart on the keyboard.
If you've always thought there's a faster way of executing commands and doing things, you're right. That's why you need the Redragon M913 Impact Elite gaming mouse. This is a no-brainer choice if you have a medium to large-sized hand and you're used to either the palm or claw grip.
It's perfectly shaped, so your hand doesn't feel tired even after using it for several hours. All the buttons are within easy reach, while simultaneously, you won't press them accidentally. Best of all, this mouse is wireless and has decent battery life.
You also won't have any problems with its simple and easy-to-use app. So, at less than $50, what more can you ask for? Go ahead and save time with the Redragon M913 Impact Elite.
