Do you really need a story in a 2D fighting game? The team behind Phantom Breaker: Omnia certainly think so.
Available to purchase, download and thoroughly enjoy right now, is Phantom Breaker: Omnia – the latest 2D anime fighter to emerge from the Rocket Panda Games stable. Playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC through Steam, Phantom Breaker: Omnia will present players with the opportunity to do battle, all whilst taking in a tale or two as they go.
It’s priced at £31.99 from the Xbox Store (and you should expect to pay roughly that same price point wherever you grab this one from) and will take gamers through a fast paced 2D anime fighter that is told via a delightful Story Mode.
It features no less than twenty of the most unique Phantom Breaker characters as they go one-on-one and toe-to-toe in a battle to make their own wishes come true. And if you thought that was just enough of a roster to grab the interest, the fact that this lets you work a variety of fighting styles too, ensures that it’s a game that will delight not just the most hardened of battlers, but newbies alike.
Throw in guest characters – Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate and Rimi Sakihata from Chaos;Head – alongside new battlers to the franchise, and you’ve got some decent old 2D anime fighting.
We’re looking to follow this launch piece for Phantom Breaker: Omnia with a full review. We’re playing on Xbox Series X|S and whilst this isn’t a next-gen optimised title, you can play it on either Xbox One or Series X|S. If those are the consoles of your choice, get over to the Xbox Store and grab a download.
You’ll also find Phantom Breaker: Omnia on Switch, PlayStation and PC.
