Aspiring pirates would do wise to keep an eye on One Piece Odyssey, a new JRPG based on the hit manga coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
On Monday, Bandai Namco announced One Piece Odyssey, a big-budget JRPG set in the One Piece universe. In an interview on YouTube, producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki spoke briefly about the project, reassuring fans that One Piece Odyssey will live up to the franchise’s adventurous legacy, especially with series creator Eiichiro Oda’s involvement.
“I hope to deliver an epic drama adventure of the Straw Hats which both One Piece fans and JRPG fans can experience and enjoy,” Tsuzuki said. “It was necessary to expand accessible places for players, and we wanted to be as true as possible to the original work. So we asked Oda for his advice, and he designed the characters and monsters to vitalize the in-game One Piece world.”

Bandai Namco’s blog went into some detail regarding the plot of One Piece Odyssey.
“During their voyage, the Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy are swallowed by a huge storm at sea,” the synopsis reads. “They end up on a mysterious island full of nature amidst the storm and become separated from each other. The crew set outs on a new adventurous journey filled with wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals.”
There’s no firm release date for One Piece Odyssey, but it’s apparently coming out this year.
