The driver lineup will be led by Daire McCormack, a participant in the 2021 running of the Sprint Series. In addition to sim racing, Munster Rugby Gaming fields rosters in the second and third divisions of the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC).
The Sprint Series will take place on the Assetto Corsa Competizione platform across ten rounds. In addition, the club also unveiled UK-based retailer Currys as a brand partner.
Enda Lynch, Head of Enterprise at Munster Rugby, spoke on the collaboration: “Munster Rugby Gaming is delighted to partner with Williams Racing for the season ahead. It’s not often that two sports organisations with such a rich heritage and loyal set of supporters are able to partner on a new venture.
“We are also incredibly lucky to have strong Irish talent on our team, from the drivers through to Currys who have come on board as our brand partner on this journey. We’re excited to share the on-track experience with our supporters in the season ahead.”
This is not the first esports organisation that Williams Racing has associated itself with in recent years. Last year the F1 team patterned with British organisation Resolve Esports for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).

Steven English, Head of Esports at Williams Racing, added: “We’re really looking forward to supporting Munster Rugby Gaming and their first foray into virtual racing. It’s clear that we have a shared philosophy around growing brand equity and reaching new audiences, so we’re anticipating some great results together.”
Esports Insider says: Sim racing continues to attract new organisations, with Munster Rugby Gaming becoming one of the latest to field a driver pairing. With the expertise of Williams Racing, the club is in a strong position to achieve success in a new esports discipline.
