British marketing specialist Morgan Ashurst has been awarded the Esports Impact award at the 2022 MCV/Develop Women in Games Awards this evening.
Morgan, who most recently worked as head of marketing at the British Esports Association, where she has worked for three years, is about to start a new role to be announced soon.
She also has a raft of prior experience in esports having worked at Riot Gaming and Fierce PC, and competed in Call of Duty as a pro gamer.
Morgan said in a LinkedIn post: “Since receiving the nomination I was ecstatic, so much to be thankful for. Being recognised for so much hard work behind the scenes to develop our Women in Esports initiative to where it is now. That was the feeling of being nominated… and this afternoon I found out that I’ve won the thing!

“With me being in my final week at British Esports, what a way to sum up this entire experience.
“It was highlighted in my speech about how none of this would’ve been possible without the incredible Alice Leaman [British Esports head of operations] – also known as my work wife – and what we’ve built together. The same applies to all the team at British Esports and to Chester King for giving us the platform to create such a fantastic initiative and to have the ability to work in an area we’re both so passionate about.”
Morgan also gave her respects to the other nominees, and thanked Alice and British Esports junior content executive Bryony-Hope Green, who attended the awards event on Morgan’s behalf (recovering after an op).
“With me being in my final week at British Esports, what a way to sum up this entire experience.”
Others nominated for the Esports Impact award were Catherine Bygrave (Gfinity), Caz Lacey (CAA), Rachel Rakowski (Logitech) and Becky Wright (National Student Esports, aka NSE).
Other award winners this evening included Maria Laura Scuri of FaceIt for Technical Innovation, Shahneila Saeed of Digital Schoolhouse/Ukie for Educational Impact and more.
In other recent esports awards news, UK esports winners were named at the*gameHERs awards 2021 and UK esports and gaming talent have been nominated for the 2022 Gayming Awards, which is due to take place in London on April 25th 2022.
