The EDG Worlds skins celebrating the victors of 2021’s League of Legends World Championship appear to have been leaked.
EDward Gaming was the upset champion of last year’s World Championship after a stunning showing against defending champions Damwon KIA. Splash art has begun circulating among Chinese LoL esports personalities what appears to be most of the splash art for the team. The splash art matches champions chosen by the players.
EDG Worlds skins leak ahead of an announcement
The art began circulating through Chinese sites on April 22, showing a dark fantasy-themed lineup of champions that was a perfect match for Riot Games’ art style. Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun, Zhao “Jiejie” Li-Jie, Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, and Tian “Meiko” Ye each have a custom skin. If legitimate, this would mean that Flandre chose Graves, Jiejie opted for Viego, Scout went with burst mage Zoe and the duo lane of Viper and Meiko opted for Aphelios and Yuumi.
Many fans expected the skins to come in EDG’s iconic red and black, but the skins moved into dark blues, blacks, and browns with other colors used for highlights. Each of the champions depicted matches up with the announced champion for each player, so the Chinese leak seems very likely to be the actual splash art. Certain elements on each champion have been tweaked, with Aphelios opting for a glowing axe over his usual chakrams.
The skins will launch before the next World Championship. It’s possible they’ll arrive in time for MSI, though not in time for the MSI patch. Otherwise, fans can expect these in summer. Edward Gaming won’t be playing at MSI this year, as the team has been eliminated from LPL finals contention.
