The MKEsports Alliance, which is dedicated to growing the esports industry in the state, will host the first Wisconsin Esports Summit with panels that include how to support esports development and the future of esports in the region.
The summit will take place at Deer District’s The Mecca Sports Bar & Grill Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The MKESports Alliance, which focuses on the continuously growing esports industry, was founded by Brandon Tschacher in November 2020. MKESports Alliance estimates the state of Wisconsin sees over $330 million added to the economy as a result of the video game industry, which includes esports.
“The global esports – electronic sports – economy is now in the billions of dollars, demonstrating a worldwide interest and love of gaming,” Tschacher said in a press release. “Business Insider Intelligence says esports viewership will grow to 646 million. Deloitte says esports investments doubled in 2018.”
Visit Milwaukee’s sports division Sports Milwaukee is also a sponsor of the Wisconsin Esports Summit. Its director Marissa Werner will be speaking at the event.
“Milwaukee has played host to esports events for over two decades now from the Midwest Gaming Classic to the Midwinter Gaming Convention. That is in addition to the solid gaming presence grown by local businesses, regional groups, and organizations such as the MKEsports Alliance,” Werner said in the release. “Our esports scene is not only burgeoning, it’s thriving, making the Wisconsin Esports Summit a perfect fit for Milwaukee.”
