Cambodia has more than two million gaming e sports players as of 2021 – Khmer Times

The Method Research has said that the Gaming and Esports industry in Cambodia is booming, with an estimated two million of players.
Numerous companies are enabling the growth of Esports in Cambodia through event/competition with cash prize, team sponsoring and platform development.
Cambodia players are increasing with heavy internet penetration and mobile diffusion, as well as the spread of cyber coffees across the country.
More than 3 respondents out of 4 in Cambodia own a computer for gaming activities, comprising 76 percent.
89% of the population is playing the most video games at home.
99% Almost all respondents are playing online video games in multiplayer in Cambodia.
Also, 84% prefer to play online competitive games compared to other types.
34% More than 1 respondent out of 3 in Cambodia is spending more than $10 per month on video games.
Moreover, 69% of the respondents are spending money every month on video games in Cambodia.
Almost 80% of the respondents are watching video game content several times a week.
Also, 87% mentioned they prefer watching live content when it comes to video games.
Close to 70% of the respondents that watch video game content are watching competitive content (live, stream, event,…). It is noted that 22% are watching gameplay videos.
With 60% of answers, Youtube is by far the most popular platform to watch video game content.
51% or mMore than 1 respondent out of 2 in Cambodia has already purchased merchandising related to a game or a gaming competition they like.
For 46% of the respondents, FPS is the kind of game they enjoy the most watching.
87% of the respondents answered that Esport is only at the beginning and will continue to progress.
Moreover, 59% believe the pandemic will lead to an increase of the investment and activity in Esport.
More than 1 respondent out of 3 in Cambodia (39%) has already attended an Esport event
95% of the respondents that didn’t would like to go to one if they have the opportunity
A large majority, 87%, believe Esport will continue to grow in the future and 91% consider Esport as real sports.
Also, 1 respondent out of 3 have already attended an Esport event. It shows the potential and the growing interest perceived of Esports in Cambodia.
