Assassin’s Creed! Triangle Strategy! A brand new Kirby!
We might be one month down already – where does the time go? – but 2022’s still got plenty in store for Switch owners.
As always, we’ve been busy compiling a list of some of the best Nintendo Switch games and accessories launching over the next couple of months. Two major Nintendo-published titles feature this time around, making it a very exciting launch period indeed.
Below our featured highlights, you’ll find lots of other games for your perusal, as well as accessories that are launching over the next couple of months, including an awesome range of special Kirby anniversary merchandise.
Enjoy!

Finally coming to Switch after launching on other platforms many moons ago, this collection features a couple of the best games in the entire Assassin’s Creed series (Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood) and will take you (back) to 15th-century Renaissance Italy to snickity-snick unsuspecting people with those cool wrist-blade thingys.
We remember playing these back in the day and marvelling at the intricacies of Ubisoft’s recreation of Venice. The Switch version also gets some HD Rumble and a couple of other minor perks, too. One to keep an eye on.
On 4th March, Square Enix will release Triangle Strategy, the follow-up to the much-loved Octopath Traveler. As well as the standard physical release, a special Tactician’s Limited Edition is available which includes the game, six customised dice, a deck of playing cards, a SteelBook, a double-sided poster, and a collector’s box!
We love a bit of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe around these parts, but despite its brilliance, we’re definitely down for some fresh karting content. Enter Square Enix’s Final Fantasy kart racer Chocobo GP.
This Switch-exclusive will feature a bunch of courses set in and around locales from the Final Fantasy series, with a story mode, 64-player knock-out tourneys, Time Attacks, and various other modes you’d expect to see in a kart racer.
Sounds like just the ticket, at least while we wait for a ‘Mario Kart 9’ announcement.
The latest game in the sword-filled life sim RPG series (the first release was literally subtitled ‘A Fantasy Harvest Moon’), we’ll soon be diving into some of that wholesome farming and fiend-flaying gameplay the series is known for.
Rune Factory 5 has been out in Japan since May 2021 and we’re jonesing to see how the localised game holds up. Because, as you can see, we’ve got loads of time and absolutely no other top-quality games to be playing in March. Hey, it’s a good problem to have!
Later in the month, we’re being treated to the latest instalment in the Kirby franchise. In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, our favourite pink blob is setting off on an intriguing new-look adventure for the series, ditching the usual 2D platforming for an epic-looking 3D action adventure.
As well as the highlighted games above, there are plenty of Switch retail games that could pique your interest over the coming weeks…
And finally, here’s a selection of Switch accessories coming up in February and beyond…
So that’s it for February and March — did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you’ve pre-ordered any of these goodies!
Note: We previously listed Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp as a March release, although that date hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet: it’s still set for Spring 2022. Apologies — we shall reinstate it if we get official word on the release date (and if it’s in March, of course).
About Ryan Craddock
Ryan can list the first 151 Pokémon all in order off by heart – a feat he calls his ‘party trick’ despite being such an introvert that he’d never be found anywhere near a party. He’d much rather just have a night in with Mario Kart and a pizza, and we can’t say we blame him.

Advance Wars & Kirby for me
Advance Wars and Kirby so close….gonna spend a lot of time playing these two.
Where did you get the March 12th release date for Advance Wars? The eshop says April 8th meanwhile Nintendo said Spring 2022.
I’m planning on Kirby for sure, and Triangle Strategy is a strong maybe. I want Advance Wars, but I am not sure if I will be getting that. I’ll wait on reviews.
Pretty sure that Advance Wars release date is wrong
@Grumblevolcano Yeah it’s 8th April on the Official Nintendo UK store.
Kirby, Infernax, Hoa, Skul and Lego Star Wars for sure.
Not heard of Onrike, but a 3D platformer? Anyone know if its any good?
Again, Youtubers Life 2 !!!
TriStrat, baby.
February is pretty quiet until Atelier Sophie 2 comes out but then the release schedule explodes in March/April. I’ll be getting at least eight physical releases over those couple of months.
It’s Kirby for me. Maybe I will get assassin’s creed when it goes on sale.
And maybe advance wars but I will wait and see for more footage
Only kirby for me. Still have a lot of games on the shelf I need to start or even finish.
Chocobo gp and Kirby. And the ezio collection in about 6 months when the price is reasonable.
I’d love to get the Ezio Collection since I’ve never played that bunch of AC games, but I’m put off of the download size…even for physical. Otherwise, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Advance Wars 1+2 are on my radar. Potentially Triangle Strategy too if it reviews well.
Edit: Wait, when did they announce an official date for Advance Wars?
Hi all. I got all excited and added Advance Wars to the list when the date is still ‘Spring 2022’. Apologies, I’ve removed it from the highlights — March was looking busy anyway!
Wait there’s a western physical release of Chocobo GP? I thought it was an Asian exclusive? I also had no idea Disco Elysium had a physical release coming. Pretty chuffed with this!
Triangle Strategy for me. 2022 is shaping up to be an incredible year. Every time I think I’ve made a mental map of everything I’m interested in, there’s always 2 other titles I’ve forgotten about.
Chocobo GP and Kirby and the Forgotten Land for me.
The only games I’m interested right now in that list is .hack//GU, Rune Factory 5, Kirby, and Chocobo GP. RPGs and Racing games is a gold combination for me. I’m still on the fence on Triangle Strategy though. Crossing fingers that it’s good.
For the more obscure games I’m looking at «My Next Life as a Villainess…» (since I enjoyed the Anime), and maybe Monark.
Only Kirby for me. My money is ready for its launch.
Maybe Persona 4 Arena down the line, but definitely not at launch.
Triangle Strategy and Kirby will be mine FOR SURE. Still hesitating with Rune Factory 5 and Chocobo GP, it will depend on the reviews and so.
I’m looking mostly at Triangle Strategy and Tormented Souls
Kirby is a very strong possibility for me, triangle strategy is somewhat likely depending on the reviews, chocobo gp looks fun but I’ll wait for a sale on that one.
Of course it all depends on when I finish arceus and elden ring, I’ll try my hardest this year to actually finish my games before buying new ones (minus elden ring because it’s elden ring)
Kirby is day 1 for me. I’ll pick up Triangle Strategy and Rune Factory 5 later in the years once they’re cheaper and I’ve cleared more of my backlog. I’d also consider picking up the Ezio collection once it goes down to $20 like I did with the Rebel collection.
Holy crap that’s a lot of good games for just two months, this would never happen with the Wii U.
That first Dusk Diver game was a nice action RPG. To many good games here.
Triangle Strategy, Chocobo GP and Kirby for me. If there’s a Direct, more may be added but as of now February is dry which is fine given Legends Arceus seems rather lengthy and I have plenty of backlog.
Pre-ordered Kirby yesterday via your Best Buy link in the other article – you’re welcome – and I would pre-order Chocobo GP if stupid Squenix would actually put it up for sale in the US. It’s digital only and last I checked neither the Switch eShop not the Nintendo website had it available for pre-order, not even a date or a price.?
@noobish_hat Pretty sure Kirby is only digital in the west, if that. Any link in the article is probably for an import site.

I clicked the Reknum Origins Collection link and it showed me a bunch of moisturizer cream lol
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection
TRIANGLE STRATEGY
Chocobo GP
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Persona Arena
Lego Star Wars
Advance Wars too….right?
Busy month for me!
Nope nothing for me this month……
Wish they would do a hard release of strange brigade.
@noobish_hat : There is an Australian physical release in the pipeline, and by extension, I assume that would include Europe as well.
So many games…. waiting for sales
Sigh. I’ve had a games backlog ever since the Switch launched. But during 2021 (a relatively lean year) was starting to catch up. But come March I’ll be back to square one. Oh well, a nice problem to have, and means I can wait for sale prices.
It’s Incredible how Nintendo Switch Outsold the Wii and ps1. With an Incredible Lineup, so far, like this for 2022, Nintendo Switch will Outsell the ps4 and gameboy/gameboy color for sure!
I don’t think Dusk Diver 2 is coming out anytime soon…
Triangle Strategy for sure, pre-ordered this like 6 months ago LOL so excited!
I will probably check out Kirby as well. This year is going to be soooo stacked, can’t wait for the first direct to start putting dates on games!
I’m hyped for Kirby and chocobo racing in March. Maybe I can save my pennies in February.
Love Esquire, Life is Strange: True Colors, Crystar, Tormented Souls, Kirby, Gal*Gun: Double Peace, Monark, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Chaos;Child / Chaos;Head Noah once it has an English patch.
Oof-between Triangle Strategy, Chocobo Racing, and the new Kirby I’m going to be busy in March…and broke.
Kirby might be cool and all, but I’m not spending 60 bucks on it, I’d rather get Tormented Souls for half price instead. Might get it 2nd hand for its true value later.
Meanwhile, my Lego Star Wars preorder withstands the test of time.
? strategy is the only one I’m interested in.
@iLikeUrAttitude
Must resist.. rectum joke…
@ryancraddock You forgot to mention the real jewel of the bunch: Ryan Craddock’s Rescue Squad!
