Gaming headsets can be a must-have accessory and many of them can cost quite a bit, but the good news is there are more than a few that can be picked up for under $100 and some of the best ones sit in this price range. While the best ones overall can certainly cost more than that, we’ve come across quite a few great options for a fairly affordable price.
This goes for gaming headsets on both console and PC, with numerous options for under $100 on both platforms. If you’re not looking to spend a lot of money, we definitely recommend shooting for a gaming headset that will be under this price. But with all of the options out there, we realize it can be hard to decide where to start. So, if you’re looking for the best gaming headsets under $100, this guide should help you narrow down your choices.
Razer’s Blackshark headset is one of the best gaming headsets out there overall, and the Blackshark V2 X takes many of those loved features and applies them to a more affordable unit. This is a wired headset so that immediately helps bring the price down some. Beyond that, it features 7.1 virtual sound for a more immersive gaming experience.
It’s also pretty lightweight at just 240 grams. So feel free to play for hours without having to worry about the headset giving you fatigue or become uncomfortable. Lastly, like most or all headsets on this list the Blackshark V2 X is multi-platform. You can use it with PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, and you should be able to use it with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as well.
Normally this retails for $59.99 but right now Amazon has it on sale for $49.99. Making it one of the best gaming headsets under $100 that you can currently buy.
Razer Blackshark V2 X
The Cloud II is one of HyperX’s most popular gaming headsets, which is why we had to pick it for this list. Not only is it well-liked by buyers, but it’s also $99.99 at its regular price, putting it at just under $100 for the cost. Right now though you can grab it from Amazon for just $68.99 making it even cheaper than usual.
For that price you get 7.1 virtual sound for immersive gaming, extremely comfortable ear cups and an overall comfortable build. We also love that it comes with a detachable mic so you don’t always have to keep it plugged in. And if you’re like us, this allows you to store the mic away for a cleaner look if you keep the headset on display when not in use.
HyperX Cloud II
For a wireless headset, you can’t go wrong with the Logitech G435 Lightspeed. Logitech’s lightspeed wireless technology is some of the best we’ve tested when it comes to wireless headsets. Excelling in range and overall connection reliability.
This helps a ton when you’re playing games with other people because you can be sure you’ll have little to no issues with the audio cutting out. And what makes this even better is that this normally $80 headset is on sale for $60.
Logitech offers the G435 Lightspeed in multiple colors as well. So you can pick your preference. The one downside really is that this uses built-in mics instead of a boom mic. Which some people might not prefer. Other than that this is a solid gaming headset option if you’re looking for something with decent quality that won’t cost an arm and a leg.
This is also one of the lightest headsets weighing in at only 165 grams. Battery life will also last for up to 18 hours too. So you should be able to use it for a few days before it needs a charge. Depending on how long you play each day, of course.
Logitech G435 Lightspeed
We have another option on here from Razer and this time it’s designed exclusively for PlayStation. Specifically the PS5. Though you can use it with PS4 as well. The Razer Kaira For PlayStation gaming headset is wireless so it connects to the console using a wireless dongle. This helps provide a connection to the console that will be low-latency.
After using this headset ourselves, we found it to be extremely comfortable for both shorter and longer play sessions. The only thing we’d change is the lack of a detachable mic. If that doesn’t bother you, this is a great headset for PS4 and PS5 if you’re looking for something under $100.
Razer says the battery life is rated for up to 30 hours and we found this to be mostly accurate. Plus, it charges via USB-C so it should charge up fairly fast when the battery life does run out. Also worth mentioning is that the dongle used for connection is USB-C. Which means you should be able to use it with Nintendo Switch, and even PC if you have a PC with a USB-C port.
Razer Kaira For PlayStation
SteelSeries has been one of our favorite brands for all kinds of gaming peripherals and the Arctis 1 is one of the best headsets they make. While not the company’s most high-profile headset, it’s an excellent option for many because it comes in at well under $100, it’s compatible with PC and console, and it provides good quality sound.
We like this because it sounds good, it has a detachable mic, and it’s only $25 on Amazon right now. That’s good for a couple reasons. One it saves you a lot of money. And two if you ever break it you can easily replace it for cheap. That being said, the $25 price is a sale price on Amazon. Normally it retails for $50.
SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wired
This headset from Beyerdynamic is one of the best you can get for around its price point. Which is $99.99 for the MMX 100. Fitting, we know.
It comes with detachable META Voice cardioid condenser microphone for vocal clarity, as well as an impedance of 32 ohms, dedicated volume dials for precise audio adjustment and more.
This is a wired headset so you’ll not have the freedom of a wireless option here. But the comfort and sound quality are awesome and the headset is relatively affordable. You can also get it in Black or White.
Beyerdynamic MMX 100
Similar to the Razer Kaira for PlayStation, the Kaira For Xbox gives you wireless freedom with the kind of sound quality you’ve probably come to expect from a Razer gaming headset. Designed for use with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, you can also use this headset with PC.
It uses Razer’s TriForce 50mm drivers and comes with a HyperClear Cardioid mic for vocal clarity. We’re also pretty fond of the flowknit memory foam ear pads which we find pretty darn comfortable during longer play sessions. Especially if it gets warm in the room where you play games as these don’t get too warm themselves.
Razer Kaira For Xbox
This is essentially the same as the wired model but you can use it wirelessly using a dongle. So no cords getting in your way when playing games. This also makes it a little more versatile since you can use it with devices wirelessly. Making it a better option for something like the Switch, or mobile devices with a USB-C port.
It can also be used with PC as well as the Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless
We’re big fans of just about anything EPOS makes and for good reason. Its headsets that we’ve tested have consistently been top-performing gaming headsets for us. The GSP 300 is by no means a high-profile option. But that doesn’t take away from the good audio quality at a decent price.
Some of its best features include a flip to mute noise-cancelling mic, super cushy ear pads, plenty of cushioning in the headband, and a closed acoustic build for a more immersive gaming experience.
EPOS GSP 300
Rounding out this list is the Razer Kraken V3 X. Which Amazon has for a sale price of $39.99 right now when it normally retails for $69.99. This headset uses Razer’s TriForce 40mm drivers and it uses USB for connection. So it’s perfect for PC, but you can also use it with consoles that have a USB port.
The headset can also deliver 7.1 virtual surround sound plus it comes with a HyperClear Cardioid mic. Audio controls are also on the ear so you don’t have to mess with a separate set of buttons on the wire.
