The Associated Student Government discussed who will be on the 2022-23 elections committee, an update on Spring 2022 ASG applications and an update on the “Let’s Get Vaccinated” campaign during their meeting on Friday, Feb. 11.
The ASG is a governmental body representing students in administrative matters.
Amy Collins, one of ASG’s advisors, brought up the necessity of an elections committee for the next school year and clarified that it must be made up of students who are not going to run for an officer’s position in the fall.
Open officer’s positions for next year include President, Vice President of Internal Affairs, Vice President of Operations and Finance, Vice President of External Affairs, Student Trustee and Student Advocate.
Representative Jonathan Dinh volunteered to be a part of the committee for the 2022-2023 school year.
Due to not enough applications being submitted, the deadline for the Spring 2022 ASG applications have been extended to Monday, February 21 at 8 p.m.
Black, chair of the “Let’s Get Vaccinated” campaign committee, moved along with an update on the campaign and talked about upcoming plans such as surveys to come and updating the website.
Black also announced the next in-person tabling event that will be held on Tuesday, February 22. The Gamer’s United club will be assisting the committee with this event.
“That’s super helpful on a lot of levels to have extra people planning those tables and it also gives those clubs an opportunity to table for their own club,” Black said.
“We will be providing a $100 funding bonus for that club on top of whatever we designate for this semester.”
The purpose of this event is to encourage vaccines for students who have yet to receive their COVID-19 shots.
The committee hopes to allow as many students to return to in-person enrollment at City College as soon as possible. This event will take place on the first day City College returns to in-person classes for the majority of students in the spring semester.
Commissioner of Accessibility Andrianina Rajaosera presented a survey she created for students to fill out. The purpose of this survey is for ASG to check in with the students and hear any feedback from them.
The ASG will reconvene next Friday, February 25 due to classes not being in session this coming Friday.
