Trainers got a lot of details about Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet when the new generation was first revealed in February.
So when is the next update? Well, there might be something planned for next week. According to the Pocketmonsters.net Twitter account, the Japanese Pokémon Variety show called ‘PokéDoko 4’ will air on the 24th of April (aka next weekend), and will include a segment featuring the «latest information on the Pokémon games».
If there is new information included about the latest generation, it could be officially revealed before the show airs next Sunday. It could also potentially be existing information, another Pokémon game-related announcement, or something else altogether – so try not to get too excited.
Here’s the full rundown courtesy of the Pocketmonsters.net Twitter account:
The TV Tokyo summary for PokéDoko 4, which airs on April 24th, 2022, indicates that they will have a segment with «The latest information on the Pokémon games!?» The new game information will most likely be announced this week before it airs on this show.
It’s been years since the any of the Pokémon Variety shows have had exclusive new game information. It would be good way to get viewers again though.
«The latest information on the Pokémon games!» <– doesn’t always indicate new info, just the «latest». This could mean new info or trailers that are already release or it could mean new info that was released during that same week which has been an occurrence lately.
IF it is new game information, it will most likely be announced this week before it airs on this show. The Pokémon Variety Shows haven’t had exclusive game news reveals in years.
If we hear any updates, we’ll let you know.

Doubt it’s much of substance. Seems like too soon for a mascot reveal or anything, looking for both gens 7 and 8 that happened in June.
March and April are typically dry months for Pokemon news and we tend not to get the first batch of major news after the reveal until May/June. Don’t expect much from this, it’s liable to be a minor tidbit at best.
We will not be getting anything new from this. At most, they’ll just recap what we already have, given that the show has yet to recap the first trailer that revealed the game.
Edit: Not to mention, these sorts of shows have a history of stringing along the audience, trying to be relevant.
The Marxist duck is the only way to go. Yes sir!
If there is going to be a Gun Pokèmon I’ll be a happy man. Its new move will be Bulletstorm ?
You’re kidding, right? The initial reveal told us barely anything.
It’d be nice to get some new info of substance, but I won’t hold my breath. I hope we get some info about the anime, too – I don’t care about Ash’s two most disgusting and overrated Pokemon teaming up. I want to know when we can expect him to start having battles against the Masters Eight and just who the remaining members are…although with Leon sitting at the top of their ranks the name itself is already a bad joke.
"The latest information on the Pokémon games!?" sounds vague enough to be anything, even vague enough to not be about Scarlet & Violet. Though it’s plural so, at best some character or early Route Pokémon reveals.
Would prefer a new spin-off reveal but this isn’t the GBA-GameCube or DS-Wii Era so the spin-offs aren’t given much of a chance by TPC nowadays. Which makes me sad.
Looking forward to seeing what they might say.
Reminder to everyone that none of us know for absolute certain what we’ll get and what we won’t get. It could be anything.
My estranged foster daughter via my ex’s ex-husband’s mistress’s thought-dead great-aunt’s great step-nephew has disclosed to me that the following will be revealed: (WARNING: SPOILERS!)
Don’t forget to credit me when sharing these Uranus-shattering spoilers.
As a reminder, the variety show presentations almost never have brand new info. They usually cover the most recent news drop only. Expect nothing.
@shoeses Arceus? Snap? Unite? Quest?
That’s four new spin-offs in recent years, plus a remake of Mystery Dungeon. We’re getting about one a year which, considering how long game development seems to take now, is a fair lick. It’s not like they could ever keep pace with the DS era. I think those days are over.
Whether or not you rate ALL of those spin-offs is another matter!
I forgot these variety shows were even a thing. I don’t think they’ve had new exclusive news since what, Gen 5? Maybe even Gen 4.
Did bring back memories of HGSS’s original reveal though!
Doubt it I know for gen 5 or 6 I stayed up to crazy o’clock to watch a stream of these to learn nothing.
I think nowadays if there’s anything substantial to be revealed about the games they’re going to do it worldwide, not just on a Japanese TV show.
@Lizuka you never know, this whole thing seems kind of rushed regardless.
more likely to get that than pokemon HOME compatibility for BDSP & PLA at least.
I know nothing’s going to happen but PLEASE.
I remember back then in 2014 when they said there will be first ingame footage of ORAS in some japanese show and everyone hyped that up and in the end it was like 4 seconds of Groudon and Kyogre stepping out of the water
@Krull ‘Arceus? Snap? Unite? Quest?’
‘That’s 4 new spin-offs in recent years’
I pray for your mentions once other people start reading this comment.
@Fizza Thanks for your prayers!
I take it you don’t think Arceus is a spin-off? It totally is! It didn’t come in two variations (Sword/Shield, Diamond/Pearl) for starters.
@Krull I understand if you weren’t aware (you kind of have to go out of your way to look for it) but Pokemon themselves have confirmed Arceus is a main series game (it’s very much like BOTW in how it’s radically different to what came before yet is still a main series title). Also, when it comes to the whole ‘1 game’ thing, we do have other main series games to look to in that regard, being Crystal, Emerald and Platinum.
The whole spin-off/main series debate is tiring as all hell though so I won’t bash you on that front.
Now that the National Dex seems to be all but dead (still hope for any remakes up to Gen VI), is it time to bring back Pokémon Stadium?
@Fizza Crystal, Emerald and Platinum are remixes of two-title entries, and Arceus most certainly isn’t – but I had missed that Arceus is considered a main series game. I’d still argue it’s a spin-off, because it is so different to the usual titles and they’re going back to the turn-based well with the next one. Also, Arceus doesn’t introduce a new generation and it comes out in the same year as Scarlet and Violet (which suggests it was made by a totally different development team). But this is semantics. Main series game or not, Arceus is different from the usual, and hasn’t slowed down the release of a more typical Pokemon title. To me, it’s a spin-off or gaiden game.
@mariomaster96 I remember that, the stream had a lot of talk about oil and natural gas for some reason.
This could be anything. Could be just talking about the Darkrai event going on. Could be a roundup of updates that might be announced next week or just a review of the previous updates. Perhaps it will coincide with the announcement of Pokémon Home being updated for BDSP and PLA. Either way don’t read too much into or it or expect anything.
Since Pokémon games reveals became worldwide with Generation 6th reveal the reveals in Japanese TV and CoroCoro became less and less revealing something new before it was revealed to worldwide. And then somewhere in 7th Generation it went only with latest revealed stuff then something that was not revealed. Only in 2018-08-19 we had new thing revealed in Japanese TV with Mega Kangashkan and Mega Gyarados seek peak which was then add to International YouTube same day after that Japanese show, and that was last time it even had something relevant. So it there will be anything new in that show for SV it will probably be add internationally as well soon after the show. But if it will be new SV stuff then they do international reveal at work days at that week before that show.
@Krull Arceus Legends is a main game according to TPC. You can ‘think’ and ‘feel like’ all you want, it doesn’t change that because it plays a bit differently, like Let’s Go. Quest is also just Rumble gameplay under a different name, and both it, Unite, & Café Mix are mobile games, more focused on micro transactions than giving you fleshed out experiences.
So a couple mobile games, an amazing sequel to Snap, & a faithful remake of Rescue Team that just needed to add a little bit extra. (Also that Detective Pikachu game still in the works but we don’t know anything about it so.) And they could very easily keep pace with the DS-Wii Era – TPC has more money than ever and it’s not like there’s a lack of game devs or ideas. Not everything needs to be a super new, original $60 release. You’re telling me they can’t hire a smaller studio to make a new Pokémon Pinball for the e-Shop, or release a collection of the 5 Pokémon WiiWare games?
@Silly_G iirc in an interview for X&Y, they said the Stadium series was done after the games went 3D. Can’t imagine they’d bring it back now that the games are 3D and on a home console. Would love to see those mini games return somehow though.
Rumours are pointing to there being new information dropped on the 19th of this month and then this show will cover what is shown off again.
. . .any of the pokemon variety shows?
How many pokemon variety shows are there, and what on earth do they generally show their viewers?
watch this variety show reveal information we already know about Pokémon Scarlet e Pokémon Violet.
I’m really hoping that more Gen 9 Pokemon will be
revealed for Scarlet and Violet, but somehow I
doubt it.
Awesome.
I’ll be looking forward to this.
@Krull
“Also, Arceus doesn’t introduce a new generation”
Arceus literally introduced 10 new Pokemon to Generation 8. No spin-off game would ever do this. If GameFreak themselves say it’s mainline then that’s your answer.
@Xellen I’ve been told… I’ll get back in my corner…
@Lizuka E3 existed in the years when Gens 7 and 8 were revealed, though.
