SAN ANGELO — Phat Catz Gaming is moving locations to downtown San Angelo and is adding LARPing gear to its sales floor.
The store’s manager, Jose Duran, said the gaming shop is moving from 2017 N. Bryant Blvd. to 113 E. Concho Ave. in the coming months.
«From a business perspective, this location that we’re currently at is kind of a destination location,» Duran said. «We’re lucky that Icon Cinema is next door because that will bring curious people over to us. We figured downtown would have a lot more passing foot traffic.»
Duran hopes the foot traffic will be high in their new area since Pokémon Go players have PokeStops downtown.
The new locations will offer more space than the current building and will have separate spaces for the play area and retail space.
Duran said the store is planning on gathering new lines of products including live action role play gear, aka LARPing gear.
«Live action role play is where people get swords or fighting gear, typically made out of wood or foam and then pretend they are knights and smack each other,» Duran said. «It sounds really dorky, but it’s fun. It’s not just them, but all the different groups, like the Dungeons and Dragons players, magic players, media players … their support is amazing and they are great people.»
Phat Catz will also be at Comic Con at the Foster Communications Coliseum from Feb. 18-20 with one-and-a-half booths with board game demos and sales booths.
