OverActive Media announced their entry into VALORANT esports by signing a European roster, the organization revealed on Thursday. More details about the VALORANT roster, location and brand will be revealed later this month.
According to OverActive Media Chief Strategy Officer, Adam Adamou, the game has been on the organization’s radar since its launch in 2020. He reiterated this on Twitter as well, noting that OverActive Media signed a roster and are ready for action.
We did it! We’ve been watching the @PlayVALORANT scene for some time and it’s time to pull the trigger. We signed a roster and are ready to roll.
Details to come in the next few weeks. https://t.co/nxfun1uZVv

Entering this esports scene is an exciting milestone for the organization as well, Adamou noted in the official announcement. He recalled how OverActive Media worked with Riot Games to grow the League of Legends European Championship and how OverActive Media believes that their venture into VALORANT will be just as successful.
“Every game has its own unique community, and by expanding into VALORANT, we’re unlocking further opportunities for meaningful and authentic engagement while building a team that can be competitive and win at the highest level,” Adamou said.
Riot Games launched VALORANT back in 2020 and, according to the studio, the game has reached 14 million active PC players on a monthly basis — plus there were 500 million games played in the first year. In 2021, the VALORANT Champions Tour was the company’s first tournament circuit for the game.
As of March 2022, the game ranked as the fifth most watched game on Twitch. Data from Newzoo also revealed that VALORANT reached 111.1 million total hours watched on the livestreaming platform with 13.3 million hours for VALORANT esports, specifically.
