With the spring portion of the 2022 League of Legends esports season now concluded for every region on the globe, Esports Charts have released viewership figures for the leagues around the world.

South Korea’s LCK dwarfed the rest of the leagues in terms of global viewership with 74.2 million hours watched.

LCK’s elite level of play and cultural relevance in South Korea played a part as always, but spring champion T1’s undefeated run to the trophy and flawless qualification for the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational put LCK at over double the amount of hours watched compared to runner-up LEC. Being a best-of-3 league makes, of course, also makes LCK just a straight-up longer league (with over 300 hours of broadcast to LEC’s 134), which would partly explain the higher «hours watched» number.

The LEC put up 36.5 million hours watched and along with LCK, was one of only two major regions that trumped the CBLoL in that stat category. The passion of the Brazilian League of Legends esports fanbase is well-known, and that passion resulted in 17.4M hours watched this year, just narrowly edging out North America’s LCS at 17M.

China’s LPL was the fourth most-watched major region and fifth overall with 15.5M hours watched. Two of the European regional leagues and Vietnam’s VCS round out the list. France’s LFL has been growing in popularity for the past couple of seasons due to the elite performance of Karmine Corp and the cultural phenomenon surrounding their success, and that was before star AD carry Martin «Rekkles» Larsson joined the squad for the 2022 season.
