Your handy guide to all the PC and console games currently free for a limited time
There’s no price more reasonable than free, and whether you’re a PC or console games player there are regular opportunities to claim games for exactly that price.
It can sometimes be hard to keep track of everything, however, which is why we’ve put together this useful guide to all the free games currently available.
This article will be updated regularly as free games arrive and disappear, meaning it should be up-to-date whenever you decide to check back on it.
It’s worth pointing out, of course, that some of these ‘free’ games are benefits for signing up to subscription services which themselves aren’t free.
This guide is also solely focused on games that usually cost money but have been made free for a limited time as part of a promotion or subscription perk.
There are plenty of free-to-play games not listed here which can be found on your console or PC digital store of choice: these were always free in the first place, and can usually be enjoyed at no cost, but with the option to spend money on upgrades.
That said, here’s our current list of free console and PC games you can claim now.
If you subscribe to PlayStation Plus you get some free games to claim every month.
These games can be ‘bought’ and added to your library, where you’re able to download them at any point in the future.
However, if you ever cancel your PlayStation Plus subscription you’ll lose access to them.
That said, if you ever restart your subscription, all the PS Plus games you’ve claimed in the past will become available to you again.
February 2022’s free PlayStation Plus games are:
If you have an Xbox Live Gold membership (or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership, which includes Gold) you can claim a selection of free games each month.
These games can be ‘bought’ and added to your library, where you’re able to download them at any point in the future.
Any Xbox 360 games that are included in Games With Gold can continue to be played even if you cancel your Gold subscription in the future.
Any Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S games in Games With Gold, however, can only be played while you’re a subscriber. If you ever cancel your subscription you won’t be able to play them (until you subscribe again)
The Xbox Games With Gold titles available at the moment are:
Xbox One title Never Yield and Xbox 360 title Band of Bugs will be available later this month, from February 16.
With the exception of special occasions like the rundown to Christmas, the Epic Games Store usually gives away a free game every week, with the game changing on Thursdays.
At the moment players can claim Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, from Playtonic Games.
This will be available to claim until 11am ET / 4pm GMT on February 10, at which point it will be replaced by Windbound.
To claim these games, players need to create an Epic Games account. They will then be able to ‘buy’ the games for free and add them to their Epic Games Store library.
Included as part of an Amazon Prime membership, Prime Gaming gives subscribers free PC titles to keep and exclusive in-game content each month.
Depending on the game, these are either claimed and added to an Amazon game library which requires its own bespoke launcher, or are instead claimed by linking to another online store such as the Epic Games Store, GOG.com or EA Origin.
All Amazon Prime Gaming free games are yours to keep after they’ve been claimed, even if the Prime membership is cancelled later on.
February 2022’s Amazon Prime Gaming free games are:
Xbox’s regular ‘Free Play Days’ campaign runs this weekend, allowing Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play the following games:
These games will be free to download and play on the Xbox Store from Thursday, February 3 at 12.01am PT / 15.01am ET / 20.01 GMT until the same time on Monday, February 7.
However, these aren’t free to claim and keep: once the Free Play Days period ends the games will no longer be playable unless you actually buy them, so consider them free weekend rentals.
