This error indicates an authentication error that is related to the communication of the Roblox servers and the gaming device. It could also indicate an expired or your Roblox account got banned.
Roblox Authentication Error Code 901
If you have encountered the Roblox Authentication Error Code 901 on your Windows 11/10 gaming PC or Xbox console, you can try our recommended solutions in the order presented below and see if that helps to resolve the issue on your system.

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved concerning each of the listed solutions.
Before you proceed with the solutions below, you can close the application and start it again. Also, you can close the session and start it again and see if that helps. In addition, the issue in hand may be due to the site/server being down and under maintenance or the servers may be overloaded – if that’s the case there’s nothing much you can do but wait patiently until automatically everything works properly again – you can check for known server issues via the Roblox Status page at status.roblox.com.
1] Restart gaming device
When you encounter the Roblox Authentication Error Code 901 on your Windows 11/10 gaming PC or Xbox console, the first troubleshooting step you can take to resolve the issue is to restart your PC or the Xbox console as the case may be.
For Xbox console gamers, to restart your console, do the following:
- Press and hold the Xbox button on the controller to launch the Power center.
- When the options show, select Restart Console.
- Select Restart and wait until your console finishes the reboot.
Once the restart is finished, see if the error is fixed. If not, you can hard reboot your PC. For console gamers, you can hard reboot your Xbox by pressing and holding the Xbox button, select the Restart console option and confirm. In addition, you can manually power cycle your Xbox console, do the following:
- Press and hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds to turn off your console.
- Unplug your Xbox?from the mains.
- Wait at least 30-60 seconds.
- Once the time elapses, plug your Xbox back into the?power outlet.
- Now, press the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller to turn your console back on.
In the case you don’t see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, you can repeat these steps and make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.
If the issue is resolved, then good; if not, try the next solution.
2] Check Network and Internet connection
For PC gamers, you can fix Network and Internet connection problems on your device to resolve any connectivity issues that might be triggering the error. For Xbox console gamers, to check your internet connection on your device, do the following:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Profile & system> Settings > General > Network settings.
- Select Test network connection.
If the connection test is successful, your console will connect to the Xbox network. If the connection test is not successful, make a note of the error message/code to troubleshoot further.
In addition, you can reset your internet router and/or modem, change network connection mode by using a wired (ethernet) connection to connect your gaming device or use mobile data connection (be mindful of additional charges) and see if that helps. You may also need to run an internet speed test to check your internet connection. Make a note of the ping, download, and upload results.
Based on the internet speed test result, if the ping is too high (more than 100ms) or if the download speed is too low (less than 1Mbps) then this could be the culprit to the issue. To fix this, try disconnecting other devices from your network and stop any downloads in progress. If the issue persists then you should contact your ISP.
3] Download and install any available game updates
For console gamers, to download and install any available game updates, do the following:
- Go to My games & apps from the Xbox home screen.
- Navigate to the Manage tab.
- Select the Updates option.
- If it appears, choose Roblox.
For PC gamers, to download and install any available game updates on your gaming rig, follow the instructions in the guide on how to check for Windows Store App updates.
4] Uninstall and reinstall Roblox
Another viable solution that worked for some affected gamers, is to uninstall and reinstall Roblox on your gaming device.
To uninstall and reinstall Roblox on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, do the following:
- From the main dashboard of your Xbox console. Start by clicking on the Xbox button on your controller, then use the guide menu that appears to access the My games & Apps menu.
- On the Game & Apps menu, scroll down through the list of installed applications and locate Roblox.
- Next, press the Start button and choose Manage game from the context menu.
- Next, select Uninstall all, then follow the on-screen instructions.
After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your console. On boot, reinstall Roblox from scratch using its Store listing.
PC gamers can uninstall Roblox and then reinstall the game via Microsoft Store on your Windows 11/10 PC.
5] Contact Roblox Support
If nothing has worked so far to resolve the issue in hand, as a last resort, you can contact Roblox Support at roblox.com/Support and see what assistance they can provide to resolve the issue.
