LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Clark County Judge is accused of shoving her husband and stabbing a gaming device during a domestic incident in Henderson Sunday night.
Jasmin Lilly-Spells, 39, was arrested on one count of domestic battery and booked into Henderson Detention Center.
Henderson Police said the incident happened May 8 around 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Grove Park Street, near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Paradise Hills Drive. HPD said the incident was reported as a domestic disturbance.
When HPD arrived, they talked to Lilly-Spells husband. He alleged that he was assaulted by his wife.
The victim had video of the incident, according to a probable-cause review by Henderson Police. The man said he and Lilly-Spells had been having marital issues leading up to the incident.
The victim told police he saw his wife take two Playstations upstairs to their bedroom, the report said. When he went up, the man said Lilly-Spells was in the master closet stabbing one of the devices with a screwdriver in an attempt to destroy it, the report said.
The man approached and Lilly-Spells approached him with screwdriver in hand, the report said, and then she shoved him. The man fell due to items in the closet and Lilly-Spells shoved him again, the report said. Police said the victim begged her to stop.
The victim reportedly suffers from Sciatica and was in pain prior to the altercation, police said in the report. The man called police shortly after the incident.
Their children, ages 4 and 11, were apparently nearby when the incident happened, the report said.
Lilly-Spells refused to talk to police and her lawyer was on scene when police arrived, the report said.
Lilly-Spells is a judge in Clark County’s Eighth Judicial District Court. Previously, Lilly-Spells was a public defender in Clark County. Her online biography says Lilly-Spells also mentored middle school girls and organized reading programs at at-risk schools.
The pre-trial custody review said Lilly-Spells was released on her own recognizance. A Clark County District Court spokesperson said they did not have comment on the case.
