The Drive to Dream esports competition is open for entries, with a Porsche Carrera Cup Italia seat up for grabs in Assetto Corsa Competizione
A new Assetto Corsa Competizione esports competition has just opened for entry and the prize is one of the biggest ever seen in sim racing; a drive in the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia.
Driving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) – part of Assetto Corsa Competizione’s Challengers Pack DLC – candidates will be split into groups of 48 and face two Qualifying Races whereupon successful drivers will be chosen to proceed to two Finals Races. The contest is open to most European countries, including citizens of the UK.
Qualifying races will be 30 minutes long and take place at Misano and Imola. The two Finals Races will take place at Monza, so it will be interesting to see how aggressively the grid attacks the Variante Rettifilio chicane on lap one.
The top 10 from each Finals Race – 20 drivers in total – go on to take part in a track day test with Porsche cars. Five drivers will be selected as reserves. One, or more, sim racers will then be selected to take part in the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia.
The competition – run by ID.Event and AK Esports, will also feature a prize draw among the non-winning participants to win two Logitech G G435 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Headphones. The competition is only open to players using the PC version of ACC.
The 2023 edition of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia will be the 17th in its history, and can boast previous championship winners like 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE Pro winner Côme Ledogar. 2022 will be the first season the championship uses the latest Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) model.
To enter and have a chance at a real-world motorsport career, participants must first purchase the Drive to Dream Video Course, costing €99. Registration is open from now until the 12th of June, with the final Track Test stage taking place in November. All rules and regulations can be found on the Drive to Dream website.
