The new ATH-GL3BK is a light gaming headset designed for long gaming sessions.
Audio-Technica has been on a roll lately with a few new releases of true wireless earbuds. Now the Japanese audio company has announced a new open-back high-fidelity gaming headset. The market for gaming headsets has been strong lately and the new Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 will be vying for a slice of that buoyant market.
Building on Audio-Technica’s heritage, the new headset brings six decades of audio expertise in a natural, open-back headset that’s designed to deliver an immersive listening experience, enabling users to identify the direction of localized sounds within the expansive sound field of most games.
Weighing just 220g, the headset is light enough to enable users to game, listen to music or take calls for long periods without feeling the discomfort of a heavy headset. In addition there are removable and user-replaceable ear pads and head band cushion.
The microphone on the ATH-GL3BK is detachable and has a flexible boom arm.
Inside the open-back housings there are 45 mm drivers tuned to provide high-resolution audio with plenty of detail. The left earcup has a built-in volume control dial and a mute switch for easy control of the professional-quality boom microphone. The mic is detachable, as are the two included cables.
Audio-Technica has provided two cables for use with the headset. The first is a 3.0 m gaming cable that terminates with a 3.5mm mic and headphone plugs for connecting to a computer. There’s also a shorter 1.2 m cable with a 3.5 mm TRRS plug for connecting to PS5, Xbox Series X, and other gaming consoles.
The ATH-GDL3 headset is compatible with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, laptops, PCs, and other devices with a standard 3.5mm TRRS headset connector or with a separate mic input and headphone output.
The ATH-GL3WH is a white finish version of the headset.
Pricing & Availability: Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 will be available from February 28 in black and white finishes. The cost will be $129 / £119.99/ €139.
