Following the introduction of Intel’s Alder Lake processors to the mini PC form-factor, ASRock is now expanding the portfolio with more models powered by AMD’s Ryzen 5000U APUs. The new 4X4 BOX-5000 Series features the energy efficient Ryzen 7 5800U, Ryzen 5 5600U and Ryzen 3 5400U processors with active cooling and 6.7 W idle TDP.
Users may opt to add up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, while the storage side can be populated with an M.2 NVMe SSD and a SATA3 SSD/HDD. The motherboard supports TPM 2.0, so the system is Windows 11 ready. As always, these models come with VESA mounting that can save space by attaching the mini PCs on the back of a monitor.
There also is support for 4X 4K video outputs via an HDMI 2.0a, one DP 1.2a and two more DP streams from the included USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectors. Besides these, the port selection offers USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 + 2x USB 2.0 connectors, audio jack, 2.5 GbE + 1 GbE jacks. Additional connectivity features include an M.2 Wi-Fi 6E card with Bluetooth 5.2 support.
No info on pricing and availability for the time being, but these AMD-powered models are expected to be more affordable compared to the Intel Alder Lake ones.
